  • Ultra Compact SWG DSLR Tracker

    The iOptron HST MiniTracker is a next-generation ultra-compact SWG (strain wave gear) tracking device designed for photographers who want maximum portability without sacrificing tracking performance. Despite fitting in the palm of your hand, it can carry up to 9 lb (4 kg) of DSLR or mirrorless imaging gear and delivers silent, precise tracking during long exposures. Lightweight at just 1.75 lb, it’s built for travel, quick setups, and wide-field night-sky imaging.

    Tracking Performance

    The MiniTracker offers four tracking modes tailored to different types of astrophotography:

    • Sidereal (1×): For stars, constellations, and deep-sky subjects
    • Lunar: Optimized for the Moon’s motion
    • Solar: For daytime solar imaging
    • ½×: Ideal for Milky Way landscapes where you want both sky and foreground in a single exposure

    A quiet DC stepper motor paired with an SWG drivetrain provides smooth, consistent motion without vibration. A quick-slew function helps you easily reframe your shot between exposures.

    Build & Mounting

    The HST MiniTracker is constructed from full CNC-machined metal, giving it a rugged, durable feel suited for outdoor use. It includes a Vixen-style dovetail that fits the optional AZ base or can be mounted directly onto a tripod. Standard 3/8"-16 and 1/4"-20 threads ensure compatibility with virtually any photo tripod or ball head.

    Power Options

    Flexibility is at the core of the MiniTracker’s design. You can power it using:

    • The built-in rechargeable Li-Poly battery
    • Three AAA batteries
    • Solar: For daytime solar imaging
    • An external 5V USB power bank via USB-C

    This makes it easy to keep the tracker running in remote locations where traditional power sources aren’t available.

    Polar Alignment

    The side bracket supports the optional AccuAlign™ polar scope or iPolar for precise alignment. For quick setups, the built-in peek-hole offers a simple way to roughly align the tracker without additional accessories.
