Which iOptron mounts is the Altitude Upgrade Kit compatible with?

This upgrade kit is designed specifically for the iOptron MiniTower Pro and iOptron MiniTower II alt-azimuth GoTo mounts. It is not compatible with other iOptron mount series.

What improvements will I see after installing this MiniTower Upgrade Kit?

Installing this kit typically results in several key improvements, including smoother altitude motion, reduced backlash for better GoTo precision, and improved stability with a stronger clutch grip to prevent slippage with heavier telescopes.

Is the MiniTower Pro/II Upgrade Kit difficult to install myself?

The kit is intended for user installation, but it requires some mechanical aptitude. Following instructions carefully is crucial. If you are not confident, seeking assistance from an experienced user is recommended.

Will this upgrade kit help with imaging on my MiniTower II mount?

Yes. By reducing backlash and ensuring smoother tracking, the kit helps produce rounder stars and sharper details in short exposures on targets like the Moon and planets by minimizing mechanical tracking errors.

Why does my MiniTower Pro mount slip in the altitude axis?

Altitude slipping can occur from normal wear on the clutch components or when using a telescope near the mount's payload limit. This upgrade kit replaces those parts with new, robust components to restore a secure hold.

Does the MiniTower Upgrade Kit include all necessary parts?

Yes, the kit is designed to be a comprehensive replacement for the altitude gear and clutch mechanism. It includes the necessary components to overhaul the altitude drive system on a compatible MiniTower mount.
