The mount head itself weighs only 685 grams, and the complete assembly with the alt-azimuth base comes in at just 1150 grams (2.53 lbs). This low weight, combined with a 6.6 lb (3kg) payload capacity and compact 115 x 115 x 95 mm dimensions, lets you carry a full-frame camera with a substantial telephoto lens deep into dark-sky locations.

Precision Tracking: 144-Tooth Worm Wheel and 4 Tracking Speeds

At the core of the SkyTracker Pro is a robust drive system designed for astrophotography. A Φ74mm, 144-tooth aluminum alloy worm wheel paired with a Φ11mm brass worm gear and a Φ25mm steel RA shaft minimizes periodic error, ensuring stars remain pinpoints. The DC servo motor provides silent operation, a 180X fast slew for framing, and four distinct tracking rates to match your target.

Both versions share the same 6.6 lb payload tracker, 24-hour internal battery, detachable alt-azimuth base, ball head mounting post and padded carry bag. The only difference is the polar scope used to align the mount.

• SkyTracker Pro (AccuAlign Polar Scope): Includes the AccuAlign dark-field illuminated polar scope with a 6º field of view and 8 adjustable brightness levels. Alignment is fully self-contained with no computer required, the simplest option for nightscapes and wide-field imaging.
• SkyTracker Pro w/ iPolar: Replaces the optical scope with the iPolar electronic polar scope. Connected to a Windows laptop or tablet via USB, it shows a live view of the sky around the celestial pole and guides you to a precise alignment in minutes, a real advantage when shooting 200mm to 300mm lenses.

Fast Polar Alignment: -30º to 65º Alt-Az Base with AccuAlign or iPolar

Accurate tracking starts with accurate polar alignment. The detachable alt-azimuth base provides fine control over latitude from -30º to 65º and ±5° of fine azimuth adjustment, covering most inhabited locations in both hemispheres. It attaches to any standard camera tripod via a 3/8” or 1/4” socket and connects to the SkyTracker Pro body with a Vixen-style dovetail for quick, secure mounting.

On the standard version, the AccuAlign polar scope's dark-field illumination with eight brightness levels keeps the reticle visible without compromising your dark adaptation. On the iPolar version, the electronic polar scope's camera displays the polar region on your computer screen and the software walks you through each adjustment, eliminating the need to crouch behind an eyepiece.

Forget cumbersome external battery packs and tangled cables. The SkyTracker Pro's internal 3.7V, 2000mAh Li-Poly battery offers up to 24 hours of continuous operation at 20ºC on a full charge. It recharges via a standard MiniUSB port, reaching 80% charge in about 5 hours, and can run from a USB power bank for virtually unlimited runtime. This self-contained power system simplifies field setup and covers a full night, or even multiple nights, of imaging.
