  • RB Focus Dovetail Bracket for Gaius-S2 (Losmandy/Vixen)

The RB Focus Dovetail Bracket provides a simple, dedicated mounting solution for the Gaius-S2 SmartBox. This bracket allows you to attach the computer directly to your telescope's Vixen-style or Losmandy-style dovetail, creating a clean, integrated setup with no loose components.

A Dedicated Dovetail Mount for the Gaius-S2

This simple bracket attaches to a Vixen-style or Losmandy-style dovetail so the Gaius-S2 sits on the telescope structure. Keeping the computer on the telescope keeps its cables moving with the optics, which helps keep them tidy. Choose the version that matches your dovetail: Vixen or Losmandy.

  • What is the purpose of the RB Focus Dovetail Bracket for Gaius-S2?

It attaches to a Vixen or Losmandy dovetail so the RB Focus Gaius-S2 can be mounted on the telescope.

How do I choose between the Losmandy and Vixen versions of the Gaius-S2 bracket?

You should choose the version that matches the style of the dovetail bar on your telescope where you plan to attach the Gaius-S2. Vixen-style dovetails are narrower (approx. 44mm), while Losmandy-style dovetails are wider (approx. 76mm). Check your existing equipment to ensure you select the correct bracket.

Where is the best place on my telescope to mount the Gaius-S2 with this bracket?

A common and effective placement is on a top-mounted dovetail bar on your main optical tube. This position keeps the Gaius-S2 close to your camera, focuser, and guide scope, allowing for shorter USB and power cables which helps to minimize potential cable snags during operation.
