    The Sky-Watcher EQ8-R Pier Tripod is the pier-style steel support designed for Sky-Watcher's observatory-class mount heads: the EQ8-R, EQ8-Rh and CQ350. It combines a central pier with three spread legs, giving you a rigid base that can still be taken down and moved. Its working height adjusts from about 30" to 39", and heavy-duty leveling pads let you level the mount precisely on uneven ground or an observatory floor.

    The pier tripod accepts the EQ8-R, the EQ8-Rh and the CQ350 mount heads. If you own one of these mounts as a head only, or want a second base for a remote or backyard site, this is the matching Sky-Watcher support.

    About 30" to 39" of Working Height

    The height adjusts from about 30" to 39", so you can set the mount low for stability and a comfortable eyepiece position, or raise it to give long refractors and large reflectors more clearance from the pier as they track.

    3 Heavy-Duty Leveling Pads for Precise Setup

    The tip of each leg sits on a heavy-duty leveling pad. Turning the pads' leveling screws raises or lowers each leg, so you can level the tripod top before you install the mount head and polar align.

    Both fit the EQ8-R, EQ8-Rh and CQ350 heads. Sky-Watcher notes that the CQ350 Tripod cannot be used with the EQ8-R/h below 27° latitude. The EQ8-R Pier Tripod has no such restriction listed, and its pier design is built for these heavy mounts.
