Sky-Watcher Skymax 200DX 0.7x Reducer
- 0.7x Reducer Matched to the Skymax 200DX
- Converts 2000mm f/10 to 1400mm f/7
- 43mm Image Circle for APS-C and Full-Frame Sensors
- 55mm Back Focus
- M48 Camera-Side Thread
The Sky-Watcher Skymax 200DX 0.7x Reducer is the matched imaging corrector for the Skymax 200DX Maksutov-Cassegrain. It reduces the telescope's focal length from 2000mm to 1400mm and its focal ratio from f/10 to f/7, widening the field of view and shortening exposure times while delivering a 43mm image circle with 55mm of back focus.
Going from f/10 to f/7 roughly doubles the light reaching each pixel, so you need about half the exposure time for the same signal. The field of view also grows by a factor of about 1.43 in each direction, which frames larger galaxies and nebulae that do not fit at the native 2000mm focal length.
The reducer delivers a fully illuminated, corrected image circle 43mm in diameter, suitable for camera sensors up to APS-C and full-frame. Its standard M48 thread and 55mm back focus work with common M48 adapter rings and spacers, so setting the correct distance to your sensor is straightforward.
This 0.7x reducer is designed specifically for the Sky-Watcher Skymax 200DX.
It is designed for 55mm of back focus and has a standard M48 thread for use with M48 adapter rings. Add the spacers or adapter rings your camera requires to reach that distance.
The reducer produces a 43mm corrected image circle, which is rated for sensors up to APS-C and full-frame.
With the reducer installed, the Skymax 200DX works at 1400mm and f/7, compared with 2000mm and f/10 natively.
