  • Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer Tripod

The Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer Tripod provides a stable, portable foundation for popular tracking mounts, weighing approximately 5.5 lb (2.5 kg) and featuring 1.25-inch diameter aluminum legs. It offers a versatile height range from 25 to 44.75 inches and connects to mounts like the Star Adventurer and AZ-GTi via a standard 3/8"-16 thread.

A 5.5 lb Platform with 1.25" Aluminum Legs

Engineered for portability, the Star Adventurer Tripod's 5.5 lb weight makes it an ideal companion for grab-and-go imaging sessions. The 1.25-inch (31.75 mm) diameter anodized aluminum legs are sized for lightweight tracking and GoTo mounts. A black scratch-resistant finish protects the legs from the inevitable bumps and scrapes of fieldwork.

25" to 44.75" Height Range with Spiked Feet

Adapt to any observing site with a broad height adjustment from a low-slung 25 inches to a comfortable standing height of 44.75 inches. The footprint measures 23 inches (58.4 cm) with the legs retracted and 36 inches (91.4 cm) extended. Low-profile twist locks secure the leg sections, and spiked feet ensure a firm grip on soft ground like grass or dirt.

3/8"-16 Thread for Star Adventurer and AZ-GT Mounts

A standard 3/8"-16 mounting screw ensures direct compatibility with a range of Sky-Watcher's most popular mounts, including the Star Adventurer, Star Adventurer Mini, AZ-GTi, AZ-GT series, and AZ5. An integrated accessory tray provides a convenient place to hold eyepieces, filters and similar gear, keeping it organized and within reach.

  • How low can the Star Adventurer Tripod go for a seated observer using an AZ-GTi mount?

The tripod can be set to a minimum height of 25 inches (63.5 cm). This low profile is ideal for seated observing or for increasing stability in windy conditions by lowering the setup's center of gravity.

What is the mounting thread size on the Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer Tripod?

The tripod uses a standard 3/8"-16 mounting thread, which is a common size for many astronomical mounts, ball heads, and other photographic equipment.

Will the Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer Tripod work with mounts from other brands?

While designed for Sky-Watcher mounts, the tripod may work with other brands that use a standard 3/8"-16 mounting socket. However, you must ensure the base of the third-party mount fits securely on the tripod's top plate.

What is the maximum height of the Star Adventurer Tripod?

The tripod extends to a maximum height of 44.75 inches (113.7 cm). This height is suitable for most users to observe comfortably while standing.

How do the spiked feet on the Star Adventurer Tripod help in the field?

The spiked feet allow you to press the legs firmly into soft surfaces like grass, dirt, or sand. This provides a much more secure and stable footing than standard rubber feet, helping to prevent slippage.
