  • Starlight Instruments 3.0" Adapter for TV127is w/o Feather Touch Pinion Assembly

This Starlight Instruments adapter is the essential component for upgrading an older TeleVue TV127is telescope to a heavy-duty 3.0" Feather Touch focuser, machined specifically for models that shipped with the original TeleVue focuser assembly.

Upgrade Your TV127is to a 3.0" Feather Touch Focuser

The stock focuser on the TeleVue TV127is is a capable performer for visual use, but modern astrophotography demands absolute rigidity. This adapter allows you to replace the original focuser with a Starlight Instruments 3.0" Feather Touch model, unlocking the stability needed for heavy cameras, filter wheels, and off-axis guiders.

By moving to a 3.0" focuser, you eliminate the potential for sag and image shift that can compromise long exposures. The larger Starlight Instruments focusers use a robust helical rack and pinion drive designed to handle significant loads without flexure, ensuring your entire imaging train remains perfectly orthogonal to the optical axis. This adapter provides the critical, precision-machined interface between your telescope tube and that upgraded focusing system.

  • What is the purpose of this Starlight Instruments TV127is adapter?

This adapter allows you to remove the stock focuser from an older TeleVue TV127is telescope and replace it with a larger, more robust Starlight Instruments 3.0" Feather Touch focuser. It is designed for imagers who need to support heavy equipment without focuser sag or tilt.

Which TeleVue TV127is models is this adapter for?

This adapter is specifically for older TeleVue TV127is models that were sold with the standard TeleVue focuser. It is not intended for newer versions that already come equipped with a TeleVue-branded Feather Touch pinion assembly, as those have a different mounting configuration.

Why should I upgrade the focuser on my TV127is for astrophotography?

While the stock focuser is excellent for visual observing, a full astrophotography setup with a cooled camera, filter wheel, and guider can exceed its load capacity. Upgrading to a 3.0" Starlight Instruments focuser using this adapter provides a zero-flexure platform for your imaging train, which is critical for achieving sharp stars across the entire field during long exposures with a camera like the ZWO ASI6200MM Pro.

Which Starlight Instruments focusers are compatible with this adapter?

This adapter is designed to connect the TeleVue TV127is optical tube to the Starlight Instruments FTF3025B-A 3.0" Feather Touch focuser. It provides the correct threading and mechanical interface for a secure fit.

Is installation of the TV127is adapter difficult?

Installation involves removing the stock focuser from the rear cell of the telescope and attaching this adapter in its place, followed by attaching the new 3.0" focuser to the adapter. While it can be done by the user with standard tools, we recommend proceeding with care to avoid damaging the telescope optics. If you are not comfortable with the procedure, consulting with an experienced technician is advised.
