Tele Vue Questar Adapter - 1.25"

A Secure, Native Fit for Your Questar Telescope

This adapter is not a generic, universal-fit solution. It threads onto the Questar in place of the stock threaded eyepiece adapter. This ensures a rigid, secure, and perfectly centered connection to your telescope's optical axis, eliminating any possibility of wobble or tilt that could degrade the image.

Access the Modern 1.25" Eyepiece Standard

The primary function of this adapter is to convert your Questar to the universally accepted 1.25" accessory standard. This immediately gives you access to hundreds of high-performance eyepieces from Tele Vue and other manufacturers. You are no longer limited to the original proprietary eyepieces, which can be difficult to find and limited in performance.

With this adapter, you can finally use modern, long eye relief, wide-field eyepieces for comfortable and immersive views. It allows you to select the perfect focal length for any target, from high-power planetary eyepieces to wide-field options for deep-sky objects, fundamentally transforming the versatility of your Questar.

Set Screw Lock and Focus Adjustment Ring

Slip any 1.25" eyepiece into the adapter and lock the set screw. Keep the black focus adjustment ring near the midpoint of its thread range so you can easily focus with the viewfinder optics; after focusing, place the eyepiece lock screw in the more convenient of the two tapped holes in the focus adjustment ring.

Do not bottom the focus adjustment ring against the aluminum barrel: doing so may prevent your eyepieces from slipping into the adapter.

Maximized Contrast Through Internal Baffling

Tele Vue understands that every internal surface in the light path is a potential source of reflection. To preserve the high-contrast views of the Questar, the interior of the adapter is machined with anti-reflection ridges and finished in a matte, non-reflective black. This baffling traps stray light that might otherwise bounce into the eyepiece and reduce image contrast.

The practical result is a darker background sky and more "pop" in the details of bright objects like the Moon and planets. By preventing internal reflections, the adapter ensures that the only light reaching your eye is the focused image from the telescope, maintaining the purity of the view.

One consideration for this adapter is the added optical length. While it allows for a wider range of eyepieces, the extra back focus it introduces may prevent some very long focal length 1.25" eyepieces from reaching focus in a standard Questar. However, for the vast majority of planetary and medium-power eyepieces, this is not a limitation.
