The right case depends on whether the risk is impact, loss of small parts, or moisture during long storage.

  • Pluck-foam hard cases: Cubed foam you customize to your exact contents, which suits an evolving collection of eyepieces, filters and adapters.
  • Fitted optical tube cases: Interiors moulded or cut for a specific telescope, protecting the tube and preserving collimation through transport.
  • Eyepiece and filter cases: Compartmented interiors that keep coated surfaces from contacting each other, with room for the caps that otherwise get lost.
  • Camera and electronics cases: Padded protection with space for cables and power supplies, keeping a rig's small parts together as one kit.

Cases in Canada — Frequently Asked Questions

Pluck foam or fitted interior?
Pluck foam if your kit changes, since you can recut it. A fitted interior protects better for a fixed item like a specific optical tube, because the fit is exact rather than approximate.
Should I store eyepieces in a sealed case?
Only with desiccant. A sealed case with trapped humidity is the ideal environment for coating fungus. Sealed plus dry is excellent; sealed plus damp is worse than an open shelf.
Do I need a waterproof case?
If equipment travels in an open truck bed, is stored in a shed, or goes to field sites in variable weather, yes. For indoor storage and car transport, a standard hard case is adequate.
Can you confirm a case fits before I order?
