The ASI585MM is ZWO's latest deep-sky monochrome camera, designed to deliver advanced imaging performance at an affordable price. Featuring Sony's 4K CMOS sensor with STARVIS 2 technology, this camera is perfect for astrophotographers looking for versatility, it is not only suitable for solar, lunar and planetary photography, but also as an all-sky camera.
4K Sony CMOS sensor with a 1/1.2″ format and 2.9µm pixels.
High Resolution 3840 x 2160 images (8.29MP).
Enhances sensitivity and dynamic range, delivering images with exceptional clarity and low noise.
Achieves 47fps at full resolution in high-speed mode, making it ideal for deep-sky, planetary, solar, and lunar imaging.
38.7ke-, nearly three times that of the IMX485 sensor, reducing overexposure and improving signal-to-noise ratio.
As low as 0.7e with High Conversion Gain (HCG) mode enabled, maintaining high dynamic range at high gain settings.
The ASI585MM monochrome camera features an impressive peak quantum efficiency (QE) of up to 91%, ensuring exceptional light-gathering capability. Its enhanced sensitivity in the near-infrared (NIR) range makes it particularly well-suited for capturing broadband targets with strong NIR signals, such as M51 (Whirlpool Galaxy) and M83 (Southern Pinwheel Galaxy). Additionally, this increased NIR performance is ideal for planetary and lunar imaging when paired with an IR-Pass filter, allowing for sharper images by reducing the effects of atmospheric turbulence.
The camera's hardware eliminates amp glow, even during long exposures and at high gain, ensuring clean and smooth dark frames.
The ASI585MM-P boasts a 256MB DDR3 memory buffer, enhancing performance and efficiency. This buffer accelerates data transfer and processing during image capture, reducing the risk of data loss or corruption. It also alleviates strain on the host computer's resources, ensuring smoother operation and maximizing creative potential during high-speed imaging sessions.
With its small pixel size and high frame rate, the ASI585MM is suitable for planetary, solar and lunar imaging as well as an all-sky camera or line camera to monitor cloud cover, rain, meteors or other weather conditions. Check the images below taken with the cooled version of the camera!
The HGC high gain mode automatically activates at gain 252 to reduce read noise and maintain dynamic range, offering flexibility for a variety of imaging scenarios.
