The ZWO ASI664MC is a notable planetary CMOS camera designed for astrophotography enthusiasts. It features a 1/1.8" Sony IMX664 sensor with a resolution of 2704 x 1536 pixels (4.15 MP) and a pixel size of 2.9 µm. This configuration allows for high-speed imaging at up to 95 frames per second (fps) while maintaining low readout noise levels, reaching as low as 0.46 electrons.
Compared to its predecessor, the ASI662MC, the ASI664MC offers a larger sensor size and higher resolution, resulting in sharper images and an enhanced astrophotography experience. The camera utilizes Sony's STARVIS 2 technology, which provides exceptional image quality and performance, especially in low-light conditions.
Additional features include a USB 3.0 interface for fast data transfer and a built-in 256MB DDR3 memory buffer to ensure smooth and stable data transmission. The camera also employs no-glow circuitry to eliminate amp glow, enhancing image quality during long exposures.
These specifications make the ASI664MC a compelling choice for capturing detailed planetary images.
