A hydrogen-alpha telescope is not a normal telescope with a filter. The etalon, the blocking filter and the optics are designed together for a single wavelength.

How small a solar telescope is worthwhile?

Even a 40 to 50 mm hydrogen-alpha telescope shows prominences and major filaments clearly, and its full-disc view is excellent. Larger apertures add fine surface detail when seeing allows.

Can I image the full disc?

Only if the blocking filter and the telescope's focal length suit your sensor size. Tell us your camera and we will confirm whether full disc fits or whether you will be mosaicking.

Is daytime seeing a problem?

Often the limiting factor. Ground heating creates turbulence, so observing over grass rather than pavement and earlier in the day usually gives noticeably better results.

Do these need a special mount?

Any stable tracking mount works, and tracking is very helpful at higher magnification. Alt-azimuth is entirely adequate for visual solar observing since field rotation does not matter.
