Howie Glatter BLUG and TuBLUG Newtonian Collimators

Howie Glatter BLUG and TuBLUG Newtonian collimators work with a Glatter laser collimator for the Barlowed laser method of aligning a Newtonian primary mirror. The beam is spread over the primary, and the shadow of the mirror's center spot is projected back onto a target where you center it.

The BLUG fits 2" focusers, and the TuBLUG comes in 1.25" and 2" versions. The method is less affected by focuser play than reading a plain laser return dot.
