  • Software Bisque Paramount Helium Soft Carrying Case

The Software Bisque Paramount Helium Soft Carrying Case is a purpose-built soft shell designed to protect your investment, measuring 28 inches (71 cm) long. This soft case provides a lightweight and manageable solution for transporting your Paramount MYT or Helium tripod to and from local observing sites without the bulk of a hard-sided case.

A 28-Inch Case for Helium and MYT Tripods

This case accepts the Paramount Helium Tripod with either the Paramount MYT or Paramount MX/MX+ top plate, as well as the Paramount MYT Tripod. The 28-inch (71 cm) length accommodates these tripods, safeguarding the legs and mechanics from scratches, scuffs, and dust between sessions.

    Field-Ready Portability

This soft case adds minimal overhead to your total gear weight, a critical factor when loading and unloading equipment at a dark sky site. The soft-sided design is easier to handle and stow in a vehicle compared to rigid cases, making it the ideal choice for observers who prioritize portability for frequent local travel.

Soft Case vs. Hard Case: The Trade-Off for Local Transport

Choosing a soft case is a deliberate decision based on use case. While a hard case offers superior protection against major impacts and is necessary for air travel or shipping, it comes with a significant weight and bulk penalty. This soft case is the practical solution for personal vehicle transport, offering robust protection from the common hazards of moving gear while remaining easy to carry and store.

  • What is the primary purpose of the Software Bisque Paramount Helium Soft Carrying Case?

This case is designed to provide lightweight, convenient protection for the Paramount Helium Tripod or the Paramount MYT Tripod during transport in a personal vehicle. Its main benefits are its 28-inch (71 cm) length and its lightweight, soft-sided construction.

Is the Paramount Helium Soft Carrying Case suitable for airline travel or shipping?

No. As a soft-sided case, it is not designed to protect the tripod from the significant impacts, drops, and compression associated with airline baggage handling or courier shipping. For those purposes, a rigid, foam-lined hard case is required.

Will this case fit the standard-length Paramount MYT tripod?

Yes. The Paramount MYT Tripod is among the tripods this case accepts. For the MYT Tripod with the optional 10-inch Extension Tube attached, Software Bisque offers the 41-inch Paramount MYT Extra Long Tripod Carrying Case.

How do the dimensions of the Paramount Helium Soft Carrying Case (28 in length) affect storage in a car?

At a length of 28 inches, the case is compact enough to fit easily across the back seat or in the trunk of most passenger cars. Its soft construction also allows for more flexible placement compared to a rigid case of the same size.

Why choose this soft case over a heavier, more protective hard case?

Its light, soft-sided construction makes it significantly easier to carry the tripod from your home to your car, and from your car to your observing spot. For local observing where you are in full control of your gear, the reduced weight and bulk are a major convenience, and the protection is more than sufficient for preventing scratches and minor bumps.
