SVBONY
Most astrophotographers meet the same wall early: the accessory that would fix the problem costs more than the telescope it bolts onto. SVBONY built its reputation in exactly that gap, with ED refractors, dual-band filters, guide scopes and cooled cameras that make a working imaging rig achievable far sooner than the established brands allow. David Astro is a Canadian dealer for SVBONY, holding the range in domestic stock.
The line is broad and not uniformly strong, which is the useful thing to know before you order. Our team has used enough of it to say which products genuinely punch above their tier and which are worth skipping in favour of spending once.

View full detailsThe SVBONY Range and Where It Excels
SVBONY covers optics, cameras, filters and accessories. The strongest parts of the catalogue are the ones where a simple design is executed well rather than where complexity is attempted cheaply.
- SV503 ED refractors: FPL-51 doublets in 70, 80 and 102 mm with dual-speed focusers, widely used as first imaging telescopes and as companion scopes on larger rigs.
- SV550 apochromatic triplets: Three-element designs with better colour correction for imagers who want tighter stars and more focal length without moving to a premium brand.
- SV220 dual-band filter: A 7 nm Ha and OIII passband for one-shot colour cameras, and the single item in the range most often recommended without qualification for city imaging.
- Guide scopes and guide cameras: Compact 30 mm to 60 mm guide scopes with rigid clamshell mounting, paired with small sensitive guide cameras.
- Cooled colour cameras: Regulated thermoelectric cooling in one-shot colour formats, bringing calibrated deep-sky imaging within reach of a first serious setup.
- Eyepieces, zooms and accessories: Zoom and planetary eyepieces, field flatteners, dew heaters, red dot finders and adapters that fill out a rig.
Why Choose David Astro for SVBONY
A value brand rewards knowing which model to pick. That is most of what we add here.
- Candid model guidance: The range is uneven, and we will tell you where an SVBONY product matches something twice its tier and where you would be better served spending once on an alternative.
- Flattener spacing supplied: The SV503 refractors need a matched field flattener at a specific back-focus, and we provide the adapter and spacer list alongside the tube.
- Filter matched to your optics: A 7 nm dual-band performs well at moderate focal ratios and shifts off-band in very fast systems. We check yours before recommending it.
- Authorized dealer: Full manufacturer warranty and verified authenticity, with claims handled domestically rather than through international returns.
- Held in Canadian stock: Shipped from Canada with no duties or brokerage fees for Canadian buyers, and worldwide delivery available.
SVBONY in Canada — Frequently Asked Questions
- Is SVBONY good enough for serious astrophotography?
- For much of it, yes. The guide scopes, dual-band filter and ED refractors are genuinely capable, and integration time matters more than brand. The mount is where economising actually limits your results.
- Does the SV503 need a field flattener?
- For imaging with anything larger than a small sensor, yes. A doublet has a curved focal plane and corners will show elongated stars without one. Tell us your camera and we will specify the flattener and spacing.
- Will the SV220 dual-band work with my telescope?
- It performs well from about f/4 and slower with a one-shot colour camera. In faster systems the steep light cone shifts the passband off the emission lines and you lose signal. With a monochrome camera, use single-line filters instead.
- Is warranty handled in Canada?
- Yes. As an authorized dealer we process warranty and service claims here, so nothing has to cross a border or clear customs for support.
