TS-Optics
TS-Optics has built a reputation on two things: apochromatic refractors that consistently outperform expectations for their price, and one of the most complete adapter and mechanical accessory catalogues in astronomy. If a thread combination exists, there is usually a TS part that makes it. David Astro carries TS-Optics products in Canada, in stock and shipping from Canada.
The adapter range in particular rewards asking rather than browsing. Tell us the two things you need to connect and we will find the part.

The line covers optics and the mechanical components that connect them, with unusual depth in the connecting parts.
- Photoline apochromatic refractors: ED doublets and triplets aimed at imaging, with matched flatteners and reducers available for each focal length.
- Field flatteners and reducers: Both model-specific correctors and general-purpose units designed to work across a range of focal ratios.
- Adapters and spacers: An extensive range across M42, M48, M54 and M68 with fine spacer increments, which is what makes hitting an exact back-focus practical.
- Focusers and rotators: Rack-and-pinion focusers and camera rotators with load capacities suited to real imaging trains.
- Newtonian components: Optical tubes, correctors and mechanical parts for imaging Newtonians.
- Eyepieces and visual accessories: Wide-field eyepieces, diagonals and Barlows across the usual barrel sizes.
Why Choose David Astro for TS-Optics
A deep adapter catalogue is only an advantage if someone can navigate it for you.
- Adapter identification service: Tell us the two components you need to join and we will specify the exact part, including thread gender and length.
- Back-focus calculated: We use the fine spacer range to land exactly on your corrector's design distance rather than approximately near it.
- Corrector matched to focal ratio: General-purpose flatteners have a working range, and we confirm yours falls inside it.
- Authorized dealer: Genuine products with manufacturer warranty, in Canadian stock.
- Ships from Canada: No duties or brokerage fees for Canadian orders.
TS-Optics in Canada — Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I find the right adapter?
- Tell us what is on each side — the thread standard and whether it is male or female — and the total length you need. We will identify the part rather than have you work through a catalogue.
- Will a general-purpose flattener work on my telescope?
- Within its designed focal ratio range, usually well. Outside it, correction degrades toward the corners. A model-specific corrector always performs better where one exists.
- Are fine spacers really necessary?
- Yes, at fast focal ratios. Correctors have roughly a millimetre of tolerance, and filter thickness alone can consume most of it, so half-millimetre shims are how you land exactly.
- Do these refractors need a specific flattener?
- Each focal length has a recommended corrector with its own back-focus figure. Tell us the tube and camera and we will specify the pairing and the spacers.
