The ZWO ASI120mini Camera is the most popular autoguiding camera on the market. It is the ideal guide camera for beginners who require reliable autoguiding to achieve sharp, long-exposure images of the night sky as it will produce well-sampled stars when using a small guide scope or an off-axis guider on a short focal length telescope.
Equipped with a 1/3" CMOS sensor (4.8mm x 3.6mm, 1280 x 960 pixels) that have 3.75μm x 3.75μm pixels with a peak quantum efficiency of 75%, the camera excels in detecting faint stars, making it easier to lock onto a guide star for improved tracking accuracy.
ZWO has engineered the ASI120MM Mini to be easy to integrate into your astrophotography setup. Its small size makes it an unobtrusive addition to your astrophotography rig, and its compatibility with a wide range of telescopes and mounts enhances its utility as an autoguiding tool.
Its type-C USB 2.0 port allows for straightforward data transfer and power, and it's compatible with popular astrophotography softwares for seamless operation. The ST-4 port can be used to send guide corrections to the mount when the mount does not support ASCOM pulse guiding.
As illustrated in the graphics below, the ASI120mini offers a read noise below 4.0e- when the gain is pushed higher than its unity gain of 29. Its 12-bit ADC and dynamic range allows to get the nice star profiles needed for autoguiding.
The ASI120MM Mini features a 1.25" body, and its sensor is positioned 8.5mm within the camera body. This compact design that requires minimal back focus ensures that this camera is compatible with virtually all guide scopes and off-axis guiders (OAG).
