Check vignettingThe Baader Conversion Ring M68x1(M)/2"UNF(F) provides a direct and secure adaptation from a male M68x1 thread to a standard 2" UNF female thread. This simple but essential component allows you to integrate accessories with a male 2" SC (Celestron-standard) thread directly into a larger M68 optical train.
This adapter connects accessories built for the 2" SC thread (2"-24 UNF, the Celestron standard) to an optical train built around the larger M68 thread system. Its male M68 thread screws into a female M68 port, which it turns into a 2" UNF female thread for any accessory with a male 2" SC thread. Standard 2" astronomy filters use the M48x0.75 thread, not the 2" SC thread.
Its primary function is to let accessories with a male 2" SC (2"-24 UNF) thread be threaded into an optical system that uses M68 threads. It screws into a female M68x1 thread and presents a female 2" UNF thread, the Celestron SC standard.
No, this adapter is not designed for eyepieces. It provides a female 2" SC thread (UNF), not a 2" barrel holder with compression rings or thumbscrews. To hold a 2" eyepiece, you would need an M68 to 2" eyepiece holder adapter.
The adapter has an external (male) M68x1 thread on the telescope side and provides an internal 2" UNF female thread on the eyepiece side. It is designed to screw into a female M68x1 thread on your focuser, extension tube, or corrector. Once attached, it presents the 2" female threads to accept an accessory with a male 2" SC thread.
While any adapter adds some optical path length, this conversion ring is designed to be as thin as possible to minimize its impact on back focus. However, you must always account for its physical thickness when calculating your imaging train spacing.
