    Phantom Group Coatings: Maximizing Contrast on 1.25" and 2" Filters

    Each Baader ND filter is treated with their proprietary Phantom Group multi-coatings. This advanced coating process virtually eliminates ghosting, reflections, and stray light, resulting in a darker background sky and improved visibility of subtle surface details on the Moon and planets. The fine-optical polish of the substrate ensures that adding the filter to your optical train does not introduce any loss of sharpness, even at high power.

    Four Densities (ND 0.6 to 3.0) for Lunar and Solar Management

    Choosing the right light reduction is critical for comfortable observing. Baader offers four densities to match your target: the lighter ND 0.6 and ND 0.9 filters are ideal for observing the Moon during its crescent or quarter phases, while the darker ND 1.8 and ND 3.0 filters are necessary to cut the intense glare of the full Moon, preventing temporary blindness and revealing subtle rilles and crater rays.

    • Critical Solar Warning: These filters are NOT primary solar filters and are unsafe for solar viewing on their own.   • Which Baader ND filter density should I choose for the Moon?
