The Celestron PowerSeeker Accessory Kit provides five essential 1.25" optical accessories to expand the capabilities of any entry-level telescope. This kit includes two Kellner eyepieces at 15mm and 9mm for medium and high-power views, respectively. It also features three distinct filters—a #80A Blue, a #25 Red, and a dedicated Moon filter—to enhance specific planetary and lunar details, all housed in a durable, foam-lined case.
This kit includes two fully-coated 1.25" Kellner eyepieces to provide a significant step up from standard "kit" eyepieces. The 15mm eyepiece delivers medium magnification, perfect for locating objects and observing larger star clusters. The 9mm eyepiece offers higher magnification, ideal for resolving details on the Moon and planets when atmospheric seeing conditions are stable.
Colored filters are a fundamental tool for planetary observers, selectively blocking certain wavelengths of light to increase contrast between features. This kit provides three threaded 1.25" filters that attach directly to the eyepiece barrel, allowing you to reveal details that are otherwise invisible to the unaided eye.
The entire PowerSeeker Accessory Kit is organized within a durable plastic carrying case with die-cut foam. This protective interior ensures your eyepieces and filters remain secure, clean, and cushioned against impacts during transport and storage. A microfiber cleaning cloth is also included, providing a safe way to remove smudges and dust from optical surfaces without leaving residue or scratches.
The 9mm eyepiece will provide high magnification, allowing you to resolve Jupiter's main cloud belts (the North and South Equatorial Belts) as distinct bands. On nights with good seeing, you may also be able to spot the Great Red Spot and the four Galilean moons as tiny, sharp disks of light.
Each filter has standard 1.25" threads. To use one, simply screw it onto the bottom barrel of either the 15mm or 9mm eyepiece. Then, insert the eyepiece-filter combination into your telescope's focuser as you normally would.
No. While branded for the PowerSeeker line, this kit is universally compatible with any telescope that uses a 1.25" focuser and 1.25" eyepieces, regardless of the brand or model.
The Moon, especially when full, is bright enough to cause significant glare and eye discomfort. The Moon filter acts like sunglasses for your telescope, dimming the view to a comfortable level. This reduction in brightness is critical for seeing subtle surface details like crater rays and mountain ranges.
The #25 Red filter is the best choice for observing Mars. It is specifically used to enhance the contrast of the polar ice caps and define dark surface features like Syrtis Major. Because it blocks a significant amount of light, it works best with telescopes 4 inches (100mm) in aperture or larger.
First, blow or gently brush away any loose dust particles from the optical surface. Then, use the included microfiber cloth to gently wipe the lens in a circular motion from the center to the edge. Avoid using tissues or other cloths, as they can leave residue or fine scratches.
