  • Pegasus Astro Pulley & Timing Belt for Motor Focus Kit

    This Pulley & Timing Belt set is Pegasus Astro's Lens Kit: it lets a Pegasus Astro Motor Focus Kit drive the focus ring of a camera lens through a timing belt. The pulley fits on the motor shaft and the belt runs to the toothed focus ring of the lens.

    Add Lens Focusing to Your Motor Focus Kit

    Fix the L bracket with the motor on a 3" dovetail bar, attach your CCD or DSLR camera to the bar (you may need an adapter or rings), then tension the belt between the pulley and the lens. Most lenses have a toothed ring for the belt.

    • OEM Components: Made by Pegasus Astro for its Motor Focus Kit: the pulley fits the motor shaft and the motor's L bracket mounts on a 3" dovetail bar.
    • Belt Drive: The timing belt runs from the pulley on the motor shaft to the toothed focus ring of the lens, so the motor turns the lens focus ring directly.
    • Motorized Lens Focus: Lets the Motor Focus Kit motor turn the focus ring of a camera lens, so the lens can be focused from your focus controller and software.

  • Is this Pulley & Timing Belt compatible with all Pegasus Astro focus motors?

    It is the Lens Kit for the Pegasus Astro Motor Focus Kit (Pegasus also links the Lens Kit guide from the FocusCube 2 page). The aluminium pulley fits the motor shaft and the belt drives the focus ring of a camera lens. SCT installations use the separate SCT bracket, pulleys and belt kit.

    Does installing this Pulley & Timing Belt require special tools?

    Attach the pulley on the motor shaft and lock its two grub screws. You also need a 3" dovetail bar for the motor's L bracket and the camera, and possibly an adapter or rings to attach the camera to the bar.

    How do I set the belt tension between the pulley and the lens?

    Create tension between the pulley and the lens for a better grip. Set the belt taut enough that it does not skip teeth on the lens focus ring, but not so tight that it strains the motor shaft.
