    The Seestar TH10 Tripod Head is a hydraulic tripod head designed for using Seestar smart telescopes in equatorial (EQ) mode. This compact, 411 g head is constructed from CNC-machined aluminum alloy, providing a stable platform for a payload up to 5 kg. Its hydraulic damping system allows for smooth 360° panning and a full -90° to +90° tilt, making precise polar alignment simple and intuitive.

    Hydraulic Damping for EQ Alignment: 360° Pan & 180° Tilt

    Setting your latitude for polar alignment requires small, precise adjustments. The TH10's hydraulic damping system gives fluid, precise control with a light touch across its 360° pan axis and -90° to +90° tilt range, and its scale lets you calibrate the angles quickly before switching to equatorial mode in the Seestar app. This smooth control is critical for accurately aligning your Seestar to the celestial pole, which is necessary for long-exposure astrophotography without field rotation.

    Engineered from CNC-machined aluminum alloy, the Seestar TH10 weighs only 411 g and stands at a fixed height of 84 mm, adding minimal weight and bulk to your portable setup. Despite its light weight, it confidently supports a load capacity of 5 kg. It is designed for the Seestar S30, S30 Pro, S50 and S50 Pro, and is also compatible with most DSLRs, mirrorless cameras and camcorders.

    Universal Mounts for Seestar, DSLRs, and Tripods

    The Seestar TH10 is designed for broad compatibility within and beyond the Seestar ecosystem. The top quick-release plate features a standard 1/4" screw, compatible with most SLR cameras, mirrorless cameras and video cameras. Two 1/4" to 3/8" threaded screw adapters are included: during setup, the adapter is screwed into the Seestar and tightened with the supplied coin wrench. The base of the head has a 3/8" threaded hole, ensuring compatibility with most tripods, monopods and desk mounts.

    • Latitude Limitation: When using the Seestar S50 in equatorial (EQ) mode with the TH10 tripod head and the TC20 tripod (included with the Seestar S50), the equipment may collide with the tripod legs at certain angles. Therefore, this setup is not recommended for use in regions below 15° latitude.

  • What does the Seestar TH10 Tripod Head enable on my Seestar S50?

    The Seestar TH10 is specifically designed to function as an equatorial wedge, allowing you to polar align your Seestar S50 or S30. This unlocks Equatorial (EQ) Mode in the Seestar app, which tracks celestial objects by rotating on a single axis aligned with the Earth's rotation. This method prevents field rotation, enabling much longer, clearer exposures of deep-sky objects.

    Will the Seestar TH10 head fit on my existing non-Seestar photo tripod?

    Yes. The base of the TH10 head features a standard 3/8" threaded screw hole. This is a common standard, ensuring compatibility with most tripods, monopods and desk mounts.

    Can the Seestar TH10 support equipment other than a Seestar telescope?

    Absolutely. With a load capacity of 5 kg and a standard 1/4" top screw, the TH10 is a capable fluid head for general photography and videography. It can easily support most DSLR and mirrorless camera setups for smooth panning and tilting shots.

    I observe at 28° N. Can I use the Seestar TH10 with my S50 and its stock tripod?

    Yes. ZWO's caveat applies to regions below 15° latitude: with the Seestar S50 in EQ mode on the TH10 and its TC20 tripod, the equipment may collide with the tripod legs at certain angles. At 28° N you are outside the region ZWO names.

    How does the hydraulic damping on the Seestar TH10 help when imaging the Andromeda Galaxy (M31)?

    To capture faint details in M31, you need long exposures in EQ mode, which requires precise polar alignment. The TH10's hydraulic damping provides smooth, controlled tilt adjustments with a light touch. This helps you zero in on your latitude setting, so your polar alignment supports sharper images of the galaxy.

    Do I need to buy the Seestar TH10 if I have the S50 Pro?

    For EQ mode, yes. The Seestar S50 Pro comes with a tripod but not the TH10 head, so ZWO recommends purchasing the TH10 separately for EQ mode, and using it with the Seestar TH10 3/8" Screw Quick Release Plate for improved imaging stability. The TH10 fits the S30, S30 Pro, S50 and S50 Pro.
