Sky-Watcher Esprit 100EDX Flattener
- Field Flattener Matched to the Esprit 100EDX
- 44mm Corrected Image Circle
- Point-Like Stars Across Full-Frame Sensors
- Designed for the Esprit 100EDX 550mm f/5.5 Triplet
The Sky-Watcher Esprit 100EDX Flattener is the optically matched field flattener for the Esprit 100EDX Super APO Triplet. It corrects the telescope's natural field curvature and delivers a flat field across a 44mm image circle, so stars stay point-like across the entire sensor, including full-frame cameras.
A refractor's focal plane is naturally curved, which stretches stars toward the edges of a large sensor. This flattener corrects that curvature across a 44mm image circle, wider than the diagonal of a full-frame sensor, so stars remain round and sharp from the center to the corners.
The Esprit 100EDX is a 100mm, 550mm focal length f/5.5 triplet with one Ohara FPL-53 ED element. Pairing it with its dedicated flattener turns this fast triplet into a complete wide-field astrograph for large nebulae, star fields and galaxy groups.
Sky-Watcher lists it for the Esprit 100EDX only. For the Esprit 70EDX or the Evostar 100EDX, use the Esprit 70EDX / Evostar 100EDX Flattener (S20216).
Yes. The 44mm image circle is larger than the roughly 43mm diagonal of a full-frame sensor, and it covers APS-C and smaller sensors with room to spare.
Sky-Watcher lists this flattener for the Esprit 100EDX only. Contact us if you own an earlier Esprit 100ED and we will help you find the correct corrector.
Sky-Watcher had not published the back focus specification for this flattener at launch. Contact us before ordering and we will confirm the correct sensor spacing for your camera.
