Rumak-Maksutov Optics: 99% Reflectivity for High-Contrast Views

The MK127 uses a Rumak-style Maksutov-Cassegrain design, which features a separated secondary mirror. This improves optical alignment and correction, delivering sharper stellar images and higher contrast on planetary details compared to standard Maksutovs. The primary mirror has a multi-coated aluminum finish, while the secondary boasts 99% reflectivity dielectric coatings to maximize light transmission to your eyepiece.

Unlike achromatic refractors, this catadioptric system is free of chromatic aberration. Bright targets like Jupiter, the lunar limb, and bright stars are rendered without distracting purple fringing, revealing crisp, natural detail. While the enclosed tube requires time to acclimate to ambient temperature, the reward is apochromatic-level views from a remarkably compact instrument.

Dual Focal Ratios: From f/11.8 to f/7.68 with the 0.65x Reducer

This telescope includes a 0.65x focal reducer, transforming its optical characteristics with a simple accessory change. At its native f/11.8, the long focal length is ideal for achieving high power on small targets, allowing you to resolve cloud bands on Jupiter, the Cassini Division in Saturn's rings, and tiny craterlets on the Moon.

Attaching the reducer converts the scope to a faster f/7.68 system. This shortens exposure times for astrophotography and provides a wider true field of view for observing larger deep-sky objects like the Orion Nebula (M42) or the Andromeda Galaxy (M31). This built-in flexibility allows the MK127 to function as both a dedicated planetary scope and a capable wide-field instrument.

Mechanical Design: 210mm Dovetail and Dual-Speed Focuser

The MK127 is built for stability and precision. It attaches to any mount accepting a Vixen-style rail with its included 210mm dovetail plate, providing a secure connection for visual use or imaging. The internal dual-speed focuser allows for smooth and precise adjustments, which is critical for achieving perfect sharpness at high magnification.

The coarse knob allows you to find initial focus quickly, while the fine-adjustment knob gives you the delicate control needed to snap planetary details into sharp relief. Because focusing is achieved by moving the primary mirror internally, there is no external drawtube, minimizing focus shift and maintaining a rigid imaging train.

SCT Ecosystem: 2" 24TPI Threads and Included Adapters

At the rear of the telescope is a standard SCT male thread (2" 24TPI), granting the MK127 access to the vast ecosystem of Schmidt-Cassegrain accessories. This includes focal reducers, off-axis guiders, and dedicated cameras. SVBONY includes the necessary adapters to get you started right out of the box.

• SCT to 2" Adapter: Allows the use of 2-inch diagonals, eyepieces, and other accessories for wide-field viewing.
• SCT to 1.25" Adapter: Lets you connect standard 1.25-inch diagonals and eyepieces, the most common format for planetary observing. This adapter also features integrated T-threads for direct camera attachment.
