The SV165's optical design is purpose-built for modern autoguiding. The 30mm objective gathers enough light to reveal plenty of guide stars in most fields, while the short 120mm focal length creates a wide field of view. This makes finding a suitable guide star simple and is an excellent match for imaging with wide-field refractors and camera lenses up to medium focal lengths.
Achieving sharp focus on your guide star is critical, and the SV165 simplifies the process with a smooth helical focuser providing 45mm of travel. This range is sufficient to bring most 1.25" barrel guide cameras to a sharp focus. Once focused, two nylon-tipped thumbscrews lock the position without marring the barrel, and the all-aluminum construction ensures mechanical stability and minimal weight.

The SVBONY SV165 uses a helical-style focuser. You rotate the main barrel to move the guide camera in and out to achieve focus.
