Tele Vue designed the QRD-1006 dovetail to mate with a finder mount and with the QRB-1002 Quick-Release Bracket on your Tele Vue ring mount.
Constructed from black anodized aluminum, the dovetail resists corrosion and wear while minimizing stray reflections. It is pre-drilled to accept mounting screws, so it can be fastened to a finder mount such as the UFM-1007 Universal Finder Mount or to a Sol-Searcher. This is the part you need to add a second finder or to equip a new telescope with Tele Vue's popular quick-release system.

This dovetail is not a generic accessory; it is manufactured specifically for the Tele Vue QRB-1002 Quick Release Bracket. What is the Tele Vue QRB-1002 Dovetail used for?
This dovetail (QRD-1006) attaches to your finder mount or Sol-Searcher and slides into the Tele Vue Quick Release Bracket (QRB-1002), which mounts on your telescope's ring.
Will this dovetail work with other brands of quick-release brackets?
Tele Vue designs it to mate with its own QRB-1002. We cannot guarantee a secure or proper fit with quick-release brackets from other manufacturers.
How do I attach the QRD-1006 to my telescope?
It does not go on the telescope. Fasten it to your finder mount or Sol-Searcher; the QRB-1002 bracket is the part that mounts in the channel of your Tele Vue ring. Mounting hardware is typically supplied with your telescope or rings.
Is this the only part I need to mount my Starbeam finder?
No. The Quick-Release Starbeam (SRT-2010) already has its own dovetail and comes with the Quick Release Bracket. The QRD-1006 is for converting a finder mount or Sol-Searcher to quick-release use with the QRB-1002.
What is the advantage of using this with the QRB-1002?
The system allows you to remove your finderscope for transportation and re-attach it quickly in the field without tools. Because the bracket stays on the scope and the dovetail stays on the finder, your finder's alignment is preserved between sessions.
