  • The Tele Vue TV-85 APO Refractor

    The Tele Vue TV-85 is an 85mm, f/7 apochromatic doublet refractor. Tele Vue rates it for a maximum visual field of 4.4° with a 2" 55mm Plössl or 41mm Panoptic, and a maximum recommended power of 225x, so one compact tube covers wide star fields and planetary detail.

    Compact and Travel-Friendly

    The optical tube is 19" long and weighs 5.95 lbs; with a 2" diagonal fitted it measures 21.9". That makes it easy to carry, fly with and set up on a light alt-azimuth mount, for the sky or for daytime and birding use.

    Focusmate Dual-Speed Focuser

    The 2-inch rack-and-pinion focuser carries Tele Vue's Focusmate 10:1 dual-speed drive, so you can make coarse moves quickly and then fine adjustments for critical focus at high power or on a camera sensor.

    What Comes With It

    The telescope ships with a sliding metal dew shield, a screw-on metal lens cover, the Focusmate focuser and a soft carry case. A mounting ring, diagonal and eyepieces are not included; Tele Vue's Accessory Package bundles a 2" Everbrite diagonal, a 3" Ring Mount and an 18.2mm DeLite eyepiece.

  • Is the Tele Vue TV-85 sold with a diagonal or eyepiece?

    No. The Tele Vue TV-85 is an optical tube assembly. Tele Vue sells an optional Accessory Package with a diagonal, ring mount and eyepiece.

    What is the highest useful magnification?

    Tele Vue gives 225x as the maximum recommended power.

    Is a mounting ring included?

    No. Tele Vue's 3" Ring Mount (RS3-8003) is sold separately and is part of the optional Accessory Package.
