    Is the ZWO N1 cable the correct one for my Nikon D810 or D850?

    The D810 and D850 are not on ZWO's compatibility list for the N1 cable, which covers the D300, D300s, D700, D3, D3s and D3x. The ZWO N3 cable will not fit them either: it uses the 8-pin MC-DC2 connector for models such as the D90, D3200, D3300, D5000, D5100 and D7000. Confirm compatibility before purchasing.

    How do I connect the ZWO N1 cable with my ASIAIR and Nikon D700?

    Connecting the cable is straightforward:

    • Plug the cable's right-angle jack into the DSLR shutter release port on the ASIAIR PRO or PLUS.
    • Plug the 10-pin N1 connector into the remote terminal on your Nikon D700 (or other compatible camera).
    • In the ASIAIR app, ensure your camera is selected and set your exposure plan. The ASIAIR will now trigger the shutter for your planned exposure times.

    Will this ZWO N1 cable allow me to capture longer exposures of the Orion Nebula (M42) with my D300?

    Absolutely. The Orion Nebula (M42) has very bright and very faint regions. With this cable, you can go beyond the 30-second limit on your D300 to capture 120-second or 180-second exposures. This allows you to record the faint, outer structures of the nebula without blowing out the bright core, which you can capture with shorter exposures and combine later.

    Can I use this shutter release cable with a Canon or Sony camera?

    No. Both versions are Nikon-specific: N1 has the 10-pin MC-30 connector and N3 the 8-pin MC-DC2 connector. You must use the cable that matches your camera's specific remote port.

    Does the ZWO N1 cable draw power from the ASIAIR or the camera?

    The cable is a passive trigger mechanism. The small amount of power needed to actuate the shutter signal is provided by the ASIAIR through the DSLR port. It does not draw significant power and has no impact on battery life.
