While the triplet objective provides excellent correction, an optional two-element field flattener is recommended for astrophotography to ensure sharp, round stars across a full 44mm image circle.

What type of ED glass is used in this model?

The 100mm Esprit EDX uses premium Ohara FPL-53 glass for its ED element, providing superior color correction compared to lower-grade alternatives.

Is the focuser stronger than the 80mm or 70mm versions?

Yes. The 100mm model is upgraded to a massive 3.4-inch linear-track focuser (compared to the 2.7-inch unit on the 70mm), specifically to handle the increased weight of larger imaging accessories.

What mount is required for the EDX 100?

With a tube weight of 16 pounds, we recommend a medium-duty equatorial mount such as the HEQ5-R or EQ6-R Pro for stable astrophotography.
