An 8-24mm Zoom Designed for Maximum Sharpness

Unlike conventional zoom eyepieces that often compromise sharpness at high power, the Hyperion Mark IV was engineered from the opposite perspective. The optical formula, glass selection, and lens polishing were all optimized for the highest magnification setting of 8mm. This ensures that as you zoom in to study fine planetary detail or split tight double stars, the image remains sharp and the apparent field of view expands to a generous 68°.

Featuring Baader's Phantom Group multicoatings, light transmission is maximized for bright, high-contrast views across the entire zoom range. The result is an eyepiece that defies the typical limitations of zooms, delivering performance that rivals individual fixed-focal-length eyepieces.

The Mark IV Redesign: 290g Weight and 55mm Bino-Friendly Body

The Mark IV represents a significant mechanical evolution, shedding 80 grams to reach a final weight of just 290g. Its main housing has been slimmed down to a 55mm diameter, allowing a pair to be used in most binoviewers with interpupillary distances as narrow as 55mm. The internal zoom mechanism has also been improved for smoother operation in cold temperatures, while parfocality across the zoom range has been fine-tuned.

For observers using spotting scopes, the Mark IV offers almost 4mm more back focus than its predecessor, improving compatibility with a wider range of instruments. Every mechanical aspect has been refined to make the eyepiece more robust, ergonomic, and field-ready.

Synchronized Binoviewing: Precise 8/12/16/20/24mm Click-Stops

The Hyperion Zoom was designed from the ground up for binoviewing. The Mark IV refines this with a smoother, yet still positive, click-stop mechanism at five key focal lengths: 8, 12, 16, 20, and 24mm. This allows you to set both eyepieces to the exact same magnification quickly and intuitively, even in complete darkness, eliminating eye strain and ensuring a perfectly merged view.

Three different eyecups are included to optimize comfort and eye placement. For binoviewing, the removable eyecup exposes the M43 thread, allowing the use of winged rubber eyecups that provide maximum "nose space" and block stray light, helping you maintain concentration on your target.

A Modular System: 1.25", 2", and M43 Threads Included

The Hyperion Mark IV is a complete viewing system. It ships with both 1.25" and 2" barrels, both of which are threaded for standard filters and feature Baader's Zero-Tilt Safety-Kerfs instead of traditional undercuts to ensure a secure fit without wobble. Two dedicated adapters are included: Adapter 'A' for spotting scopes and Adapter 'B' for standard telescope star diagonals, ensuring a flush and secure connection.

On top of the eyepiece, an M43 thread allows for direct connection of video cameras or DSLRs for afocal imaging. With the optional M43/T-2 adapter, the Mark IV integrates seamlessly into the vast Baader Astro T-2 System, opening up nearly limitless connection possibilities.
